Black-figure krater from Cerveteri
Manner of the Antimenes Painter

A god is seated on a folding stool. He is represented with head and legs in profile to the right, the body almost facing. Seated, he is as tall as the surrounding standing figures. The right forearm is extended horizontally forward, with clenched hand. The left forearm is extended obliquely upward, the hand holding a staff. The god has a pointed beard and wears his long hair loose. His dress consists of a chiton and a himation, which covers his left arm.

There are five other deities on the picture. At the right side stand a goddess, the right arm extended obliquely upward, the left arm extended obliquely downward, palms turned to each other and extended fingers, Hermes, identified by the petasos, the kerukeion and the endromides and a goddess, the right arm raised, the hand with extended fingers seen on the palm, the left arm hanging down. At the left side stand a goddess, the arms extended obliquely upward, the palms turned outward with extended fingers, and a naked god with a spear.

The foldingstool is provided with a cushion.
